Pelyatkinsk field falls into the Sanitary "Ring"
OJSC Taymyrgaz, a subsidiary of OJSC GMK Norilsk Nickel (Krasnoyarsk Region), plans to determine the boundaries of the Sanitary Protection Zone (SPZ) of the Pelyatinsk gas condensate field, intended to protect the local population from the harmful industrial impacts to the health.
Pelyatkinsk gas condensate field is located 300 km north-west of Norilsk. The company ranks first in the region in the production of gas and condensate. The entire gas produced is consumed in the Norilsk industrial area and also caters to the needs of Greater Norilsk.
GCE - Ecology, belonging to the GCE Group works as the environmental consultant and project developer of the SPZ. The specialists from the GCE - Ecology have already started developing the project on the sanitary protection zone of Pelyatkinsk field.
The Pelyatkinsk field is the largest one being developed by OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel. The impact assessment of the physical factors and the air pollution will enable the experts from GCE - Ecology" to determine the size of the sanitary protection zone around the field. Recall that as per the sanitary standards of designing the industrial enterprises, all production facilities, depending on the capacity, implementation conditions of the production process, nature and extent of harmful impacts, are divided into five classes, for which the indicative size of the sanitary protection zone of 50 to 1000 meters are established. Residential areas and public buildings can be located only outside this boundary, and the impact of the industrial facilities should not exceed the established sanitary standards.
The project is planned to be completed in December 2010.
